The Best of the Worst Stock Fitness Photos (captioned by yours truly)

I got to see this musical!! This song blew me away! (No pun intended…)

I whine a lot. (Especially this week!) But I have a ton of good things in my life. Take for instance, what I got to do for my job this week: to find the worst pictures of women “exercising” I could and then write (hopefully) funny captions for them. Dream job! Since I spend a lot of time looking through stock photo archives for pics for my articles I come across some pretty ridic stuff. I picked about 50 but Shape axed some of them (I might have got a little dirty? Oops.) but here is the slideshow for your weekend giggle! Hilarious Stock Fitness Photos I laughed. I cried. I did ridiculous yoga poses in high heels. And I know you guys are hilarious so please feel free to caption them yourself if something awesome strikes you! I’d love to hear it!

Dude Lifts Like a Lady: Why I love my “girly” workouts: One of the most insightful and interesting interviews I’ve ever been privileged to do. I’m planning on doing a whole post on why it’s all the rage for women to do “manly” workouts but men are still ridiculed for enjoying “girly” workouts so that I can share more of Ted’s quotes! (As if there is such a thing as a manly or girly workout.)

The Beauty & Simplicity of Bodyweight Training

The Smartest Things Ever Said About Dieting. Me being me, there is not a single tip on here like “don’t eat after 8 p.m.” Eesh. No, instead I quote funny ladies Erma Bombeck, Ellen Degeneres and Dolly Parton to help us keep things in perspective.

I got pinned on Pinterest! First time for everything!!

Today Show Clip. Thanks to everyone for their support and props yesterday! I had a lot of fun filming the segment! Although for filming two hours worth of stuff, it seems a little wasteful to only use like 30 seconds of it? I guess they’ll just have to have me back;)

  1. semi unrelated, but I am OBSESSED with American Idiot the musical

  2. Good article on bodyweight exercises.

That “wall sit” that they are doing in the photo is an absolute killer.

I find it hard to believe that the one guy is actually reading a book while doing it. Yeah right!

  3. Re: the stock photos:

How does the bad camera angle pic lady not have serious swotch, with those light gray shorts? I wear dark gray lululemons (that wick!) to spin once in a while, and I have problems (luckily, lulu dries within like 1 minute! and it’s not THAT noticeable).

I can only imagine the embarrassment that would arise from wearing her light gray coloured shorts.

  4. I grew up with a friend named Ronald McDonald and another named Tim Burr. Both their parents admitted to not even noticing their name problems until someone pointed it out to them. Really?

We don’t have kids but I just want to name them after Grandpa Max. Of course if it’s a girl that may be a problem 🙂

  5. I think with kids names there’s always going to be something. My last name starts with a C so I got called “ABC” in elementary school because of my name and because I was good in school. Who could have seen that one coming? It made me hate my name for a while but I love it now. Your son will grow out of it I bet. I appreciate having a name that is unusual but not weird. Except that I get unintentional calls from people’s cell phones because I’m at the top of the list 🙂

  6. Hmmm…maybe we can petition NBC for more Charlotte Air Time?
Dang, your kids are ADORABLE!!!!! (As are you!)
I also didn’t know there was an iPhone app for baby names. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised…
    Nice job!
(Oh, and I LOVE the captions!!!!!!!!!)

  7. My name is Jamie. I was named for my grandfather(s – middle name, too). If I were a kindergarten teacher, this would not be a problem. But I’m an engineer. A nuclear engineer at that – the field is RIDDLED with 50+ year-old-men. I have actually had email conversations with someone, and then met them and had the person say to me “Oh, I thought you were a man.” (Both men and women have done this to me.) How am I supposed to respond to that??? I die a little inside everytime someone assumes I am a man just because of my name. I beg of everyone out there — give your kids gender-specific names!

  8. I thought you were very well spoken on your Today Show interview!

  9. You look amazing on camera & loved the story no matter how short! 🙂 They needed to give you more time!

  10. I love that Green Day song! Ages me however! Great job on your TV shot!

  11. How about Valentino for a boy born on Valentines day? And no, I’m not kidding! Trust me- Jonas is NOTHING compared to that!

  12. You are freaking adorable. And really, Jonas? Bob? He’ll thank you later in life. I’m Katie. Along with the other 17347329910328143283 Katie’s out there. I love my name, and I couldn’t be anything else, but there was a time when I hated it. I distinctly remember walking down the hall in middle school and hearing someone yell my name. Me and the two OTHER Katies I was walking with turned at the same time. We laughed, but laughed even harder when we saw that the person was yelling to a different Katie.

  13. I love boys names for girls. My daughter’s name is Hunter and she loves it (she’s 15). I did give her a pretty generic girl middle name though (Elizabeth) to use just in case she decides that she hates it later on.
