T-Tapp Experiment Results In: How did the claims stack up? [Giveaway!]

The Gym Buddies and I having a little fun with our first T-Tapp workout. Note: this is NOT supposed to be a demonstration of good form or whatever. It’s just us being silly. Skip to 1:50 if you want to see me get my sexy back;) Thanks to Allison for secretly taping us and editing this vid! I WILL get you back, girl. (If you can’t see the above video in your reader or email, click through to my site.)

Between the butt-slapping, oil-welling and hoe-downing, you would think that these past few weeks of T-Tapp were all fun and games (and, not gonna lie, it had some really funny moments) but I also learned a lot. My Experiment ran from October 17 to November 13 and I did some form of T-Tapp every day. Usually it was the 45-minute “total workout” but sometimes it was the basic 15-minute version. Gym Buddies Megan, Allison, Krista, Beth, Jenn, Jeni, and Jess joined me for the last two weeks. In addition to reading her book (twice) and watching all the DVDs, I also tried all the sample workouts on Teresa Tapp’s site including the ab workout, the diva derriere and some others. I say this not to brag but to say that I did my best to really do this program the way it was intended to be done. This is important because as you may recall, Teresa makes some interesting claims and big promises in regards to the power of T-Tapp. So how did it all work out?

The short answer: It was both better and different than I had expected but it was not the magic mummy-tummy bullet I’d hoped it would be.

The long answer:

Claim: T-Tapp “pumps the lymphatic system” to eliminate toxins from the body

Verdict: Mostly true. There was some debate in the comments section of my first post about whether T-Tapp can really “pump the lymphatic system” to eliminate toxins from the body as Teresa explains in her book. I originally wrote that this struck me as pseudo-science but upon further investigation it seems there is truth to this. The first thing I learned is that it’s actually called the lymphoid system – huge apologies to my college anatomy professor! – and it’s an integral part of our immune system. The purpose of the lymphoid system is to gather the toxins from various parts of the body via your lymph nodes and transport them to the kidneys or liver where they are then filtered out of the body. Because the lymphoid system has no direct pump to move the lymphatic fluid, it uses gravity and the contraction of skeletal muscles to do its work. So the more you use your skeletal muscles – like, say, while exercising – the more you’re helping your lymphoid system clean your body. Yay, another great reason to exercise!

Whether or not the T-Tapp exercises are better than other exercises at doing this I can’t say, however. One study that I read seemed to think that rebounding (exercising on those mini-trampolines that look so pants-wettingly fun) is the best exercise for your lymphoid system because it involves the use of gravity more than less bouncy exercises.

Also, I’m not sure this is related but Megan had an interesting (TMI) discovery: “I will say that my poops have been awesome these past couple of weeks!” She then went on to describe them in greater detail but I decided to spare you guys. So you’ll just have to trust me when I say that Dr. Oz could make Megan his Poop Poster Girl.

Claim: T-Tapp can help you “lose up to 2 dress sizes in 4 weeks” and you will lose inches in 2 weeks

Verdict: It didn’t work that way for us. I did it for a full month and didn’t lose any inches anywhere except for 1/2 an inch off my boobs and frankly I want that back. I also may have gained 1/4 inch on my waist but I should note that girly hormones were wreaking havoc with me this past week and I’m lucky the bloat was only 1/4 of an inch. A wide variety of Gym Buddies of varying body types and fitness levels tried the 2-week “bootcamp” and none of them lost inches or dress sizes either. Megan says, “I didn’t lose any inches (maybe a 1/2 inch from my pecs & bust, but it could just be that I was wearing a different sports bra.)” and Allison adds, “I went up 1.5″ – Belly and up 1″ – Chest. Everything else stayed the same. Overall I am up 2.5″, not cool!!!!” Everyone else stayed the same.

However, I don’t want to say that it won’t work for you. First, it was a good workout (more on that in a minute) and I think if you have no fitness base then doing this program could get you pretty radical results. Second, we may not have been doing it properly. This felt like a program where form is everything and while I did watch all the instructional videos I’m sure I would have done better with in-person training.

Claim: T-Tapp will give you that below-the-bellybutton flat tummy that so many women have trouble with.

Verdict: Not true for us. All of us that tried it have had two or more babies and have the war wounds to prove it. And our pooches are still there in all their stretched-out glory. Sigh. I really really wanted this one to be true.

Claim: Everyone can T-Tapp

Verdict: Absolutely true! I don’t know that I’ve ever come across a workout before that is tough enough to challenge me and yet has zero impact. Not only that but it requires no equipment. Pregnant, disabled, injured, elderly, obese, frail – pretty much anyone could do this workout. It’s that gentle. I think this was my favorite thing about this workout.

Claim: And yet it’s tough enough to challenge anyone

Verdict: Mostly true. I was surprised; it wasn’t wussy. Just try this: Stand with your feet hip-width apart. Bend your knees until you can’t see your toes. Tuck your butt (like you’re doing a pelvic thrust, yes). Roll your shoulders back and down with your thumbs pointing out. And then rotate your quads slightly until your “knees are over little toes.” This is the basic T-Tapp stance and I guarantee that if you stand like that long enough it starts to get burn-y. (Seriously, stand up right now and try it. Yeah you might have to explain to your boss why it looks like you are humping the copy machine. It’s worth it.)

In an effort to make it a little harder and speed it up a bit I took out all the breaks between exercises which meant we basically held this position for 30-40 minutes. Ouch. Says Allison, “I thought the workout was tough. I had to take some much needed breaks in order to be able to stand otherwise I would have collapsed to the floor. It was a nice change up from our weights and it was fun to do, i’d definitely do it again sometime.” Let me remind you that Allison back squats over 200 pounds. Girl does not have weak legs. I personally really liked the lunge sequence as it had you work your muscles through their entire range of motion and not just in a contracted position. (Does this mean that if you aren’t super tough it will be too hard? No. Like I said, I took out all the breaks between exercises. If you do it exactly as the video instructs I think anyone of any fitness level would be able to do it.)

Weirdly, even though some of the workouts – like the diva derriere – hurt like crazy, we were never sore the next day. I don’t know what this means.

Claim: T-Tapp can cure cellulite

Verdict: I don’t know. My cellulite is still there and as you may remember I really don’t care. For some reason cellulite has never bothered me. Plus I didn’t do the body brushing technique Teresa recommends so I don’t think I’m qualified to speak on this point.

Claim: T-Tapp will help your posture

Verdict: Total success! Saturday night I was at a church meeting when my friend leaned over and said, “Wow, you sit up so straight! How do you do that? You have like perfect posture!” And you know what? I DID! I hadn’t even realized it nor had I been specifically trying to sit up straight but I think all that time rolling my shoulders back and down and tucking my butt paid off! Beth noticed this effect too. While she didn’t lose any inches off her tummy she did say, “I felt like it made me look and feel leaner.” And this folks is why you want to stand up straight:

Confession: Even with all of my experience trying out different workouts and knowing everything that I do, I still in my heart of hearts hope that I will someday find the “magic bullet” that will give me perfect health, happiness and thighs. And I’m always a little disappointed when programs don’t live up to all their hype.

I was super excited after reading all the testimonials both in her book and from comments on my first post to try T-Tapp. But this wasn’t a miracle workout. At least not for me. It had things about it I really liked and I can see us working it in from time to time but this wouldn’t be my go-to workout. There isn’t enough variety for me. That said, however, I really do like the posture help and I can see myself doing the “Primary Back Stretch” move and the 15-minute workout a couple of times a week. Megan agreed saying, ” I did like that I felt a good stretch from it.  My back and hamstrings get pretty tight, and doing the Primary Back Stretch in the morning seemed to help get the kinks out.”

So that’s my really long write-up on T-Tapp! (Two loooong posts in two days – I’m sorry! I swear I’ll keep it short tomorrow!)

Do you have a secret to good posture? Any of you still secretly hope you will someday find the magic fitness bullet too, even when you know better??

Giveaway: I have one copy of the Total Body workout along with some other DVDs (lectures, form guides etc.) to giveaway. I’d really like it to go to one of you who is really interested in trying this out and not someone who’s just kinda curious. I’d also love it if whomever wins it will keep me posted on their progress and what they think of it! So if you’re interested in trying this out, leave me a comment below telling me why this would be good for you!

  1. Me! Mememememe!!!!! Yes I’ve been using the YouTube videos, but I’d love the full workout! I was reading a testimonial about a woman who had a prolapsed uterus, and the exercises really helped with that. It turns out I have the same issue, so I’d love to see if it can help me, too.
As for posture, have you ever tried Alexander Technique? It’s not a workout, it’s more a system of movement. There are books out there, if you’re interested. And a website (alexandertechnique.com) I’ve found it the most effective program for posture and proper alignment.

  2. You had me at good posture! I really have THE WORST posture possible, and my current job involves sitting in front of a computer most of the day. I’m not even sure what good posture feels like … I would love to try these workouts just to relieve some of the pain in my back!

  3. I would love to have a copy!!! I tend to slouch, I need a workout I can do with my son around, and I have been eyeballing this for about 3 months! Please pick me!! I don’t necessarily need to lose inches anywhere but my waist… But I definitely need to tone up!

  4. Pingback:T-Tapp Experiment Results In: How … – The Great Fitness Experiment | Exercises Fitness

  5. oh, the non-impact got me!! (Along with the posture and….) My knees are feeling winter coming. I promise to keep you weekly updated if I win. (If I don’t, I may be replacing the Christmas list with this only and just might still keep you updated! threat/promise? Also, I like the long posts. 🙂

  6. Great writeup! I love month-long fitness experiments. I did one a few years back for a yoga game for Nintendo DS, I ended up on the front page of a gaming website for a few days 🙂

I would love love love to get something from your giveaway. I am currently doing my group fitness leader training. I’m really good at participating in fitness classes, but due to under-employment, can’t afford to spend as much time in fitness classes and at the gym proper as I’d like. I’m trying to collect dvd’s so that I have access to good examples of lots of different fitness routines to supplement what precious little time I can spend learning from pros. I don’t think there are any T-TAPP instructors in my area. So if you’ll ship to Canada, please pick me! 🙂

  7. I have been all month to see if the claims held up after your workout. I am looking to get back into a workout and could let you know how the workout goes for someone who is starting from scratch. I would love, love, love to win this one!

  8. oops… That should read “I have been waiting all month…” My computer always has a huge delay on your site for some reason and I type about three words ahead of what I see.

  9. I’m not interested in winning the prize, so count me out, but I did want to comment! I think a lot of the claims made from T-TAPP are pretty generic… flat belly? Sure, if you keep your diet meticulous too. No cellulite? Even models who don’t eat have cellulite. I do, however, *love* a fun workout and think it’s awesome that it’s designed so anyone can do it!

And way to go on fixing that APT! NICE WORK.

(I just realized I never emailed you the picture of my gym bag…DOH!)

  10. I have to say I’m not surprised at thie results of your T-Tapp. I usually am skeptical of any claims that sound pretty far fetched or promise too much. Like you I would loveee the magic bullet, but I think that the real bullet is learning to listen to your body and what it needs as well as mixing it up all the time. We each have different needs and respond to workouts in unique ways for our bodies.

As for posture! Tuck your tailbone and draw your shoulderblades back together on your back a la Anusara alignment!

  11. You’ve posted a lot of workouts on here, but this one has me completely intrigued! As a runner I need something that strengthens me seriously without being high impact. Also, I have terrible posture! I would use this a ton!

  12. Eek! I would love to have at least one if the DVDs. Just tried the diva butt workout and was surprised at how burn-y it was haha. And ordered the book yesterday while reading comments on your original post. Eek. the posture stuff to me sounds like the most useful–I’m kind of slouchy because I’ve been and will be a student forevs.

Ps: I’m always reading but terrible at commenting. But loooove your blog.

  13. Thanks for giving it an honest try! And just a hint… after a bootcamp like you did, wait 2 or 3 days and measure again. You just might be surprised! It generally takes a few days for the muscle swelling to go down. I know whenever I’ve done a bootcamp that has been the case for me.

And FOR SURE try the dry brushing. It feels SO good! (And got rid of the “old lady crepe boob cleavage thing” I had going on…) Now I know why my horses love getting groomed. Brushing feels GREAT! (Especially during the dry winter flakies…)

  14. I’m currently doing the Strength Programs in the orginal New Rules of Lifting. I LOVE them, but I see what Schuler means when he says that picking up heavy things is really hard on your body. I’d like to try the T-Tapp program next because I think my body could use a break from the iron (there’s that darn rest concept again!) I know it’s necessary, but I HATE rest weeks/days), and it sounds like this would be a really good thing for me to do next. becuase it would be challenging but still give my body a break from the barbells, if that makes sense

    • Salaams. would love to receive the workout dvds for myself, getting back into exercise after short absence and for my mom, to rehabilitate from several small strokes.

  15. I’m so happy you tried the TTapp workout. I had good success the first time I tried it earlier this year, so I thought I’d try it for two weeks too. It definitely looked like more fun in your video than it was at home in front of the t.v. 🙂 So, I ‘m checking in with my results:00-nada ( I only measured my waist). I think this might be because I have less to lose now than the first time. AND also because when I did it earlier, I really focused on form. The 15 minute workout would take me 30-45 minutes. This time I did the total 45 minute workout with the DVD and I don’t think I have the strength to hold proper technique the whole time at her tempo. I really do enjoy your blog, Charlotte.

  16. I have to admit that as far as being in your school of fitness experiments I am worthless! I just keep basically doing the same stuff, running, strength training, tennis, karate, etc and that’s that. I don’t change much, except from my point of view, I don’t get worse, at least not too much worse, and I feel that’s a good thing for me. Would be a boring blog, that’s for sure 🙂

  17. I’m always looking for something new and different, and now that I’m pregnant I know my typical crossfit routines are going to need to take a hiatus. This might be something lower impact that can help me keep my muscle tone through pregnancy. And it sounds fun. Maybe I can get some of my friends to do it with me 🙂

  18. I would love to win this system. I’m 29 years old and I have hip/sacrum/pelvic issues due to bad posture (not tucking butt, and rotating my pelvis instead of keeping it aligned) while running. I work 12 hour nightshifts, 4 days in a row, EVERY WEEK (yes it’s as miserable as it sounds) in a factory where I stand on concrete floors and, wait for it. . .am not able to maintain good posture due to the above mentioned issues. The injury was so bad at one time that I would fall when trying to put weight on my leg and hip after sitting! I reviewed the T-tapp website and read your review (duh!) and I really think it would help me. I currently can not do ANY type of exercise that includes walking or running (even the elliptical is off-limits!) because with my current issues, the job I have already aggravates the problem and extra walking movements can be unbearable at times. Any other exercise has been fine so far. It is slowly getting better and I really think the T-tapp exercises would be excellent! Please pick me!!!

  19. I ‘m really interested because I’m looking for something to ease myself back in to working out. I ‘d love to be able to do this at home and have the option of a 15 or 45 minute workout.

  20. I would really like this. I would love a non impact way to get a great work out. I sometimes struggle with skin splints and turf toe- so when I am healing (or in order to prevent the issues) I try to mix up my workouts- but I have yet to find a great no impact workout. Plus- I would love to have have better posture. I have tried several times to just make myself stand tall- but it never really works. I guess I need to work on my muscles. Thanks!

  21. Charlotte, I EFFIN ♥ YOU!!! I absolutely love how you dive into everything head first with reckless abandon and with such shameless courage. I aim to be like that, now and every day. You are so genuine and honest and open with perfect strangers, and for then I envy you.
Now, onto the blog post at hand…
I have been DYING for your update after your first post about the butt pain. lol I sooooooooooo Want to try this and have been looking for something low or no impact to try to work out. It may not be all manly and hardcore, but if YOU are in that hilarious amount of pain when it’s all over and you’re in the shape you’re in, I will suffer even more. lol I Want to try this, despite the fact that I will more than likely walk like a paraplegic frog and have T-Rex arms for days after. And I would most DEFINITELY be willing and EXCITED to send you video, photo and horrible stick figure drawing of the torture I will go through. I think it would be fun. But, be forewarned, if there is video, you may have to do some censor editing prior to allowing the public to view it, due to my penchant for excessive use of profanity when working out and in pain after the fact. lol
    P.S.
I REALLY want you to come down to FL, brood of minions and all, just so we can meet up for some over priced coffee and giggle hysterically at ourselves and each other.
    P.S.S.
Feel free to take a gander at my slacker type bloggy thingamajigger. But be ready for cussing and venting. lol

  22. I would love to try this out. I am not very good at following a hugely varied workout plan, so the idea of a repetitive workout would be great.

  23. I’ve been waiting for these results. I just ordered the basic plus workout and would love to win the total workout as it’s just a bit expensive. I’m having fun trying something so different and new and am sore in different ways.

  24. Still dying to try this workout, even after your mixed, not super results. I tried to follow the directions in the book (which I borrowed from the library) but found myself confused & concerned I’d do more damage than good.
I’d be very interested in knowing if any gym buddies have any joint issues (I’ve arthritis in my hands & a knee); and if they do, how T-Tapp helped, or didn’t.

  25. I don’t think there is anything that would remove my cellulite (short of surgery). That being said, I would still love to try it. It seems that every video set I’ve bought seems to start off at at least an intermediate level and I need something at more of a beginner pace. 🙂

  26. I would love to win a copy of these workout videos. I’ve really wanted to try this workout and have been attempting to use the free stuff she has on her website because the videos are just so expensive. I want this also for my mother, who has a plethora of excuses that hold her back from losing weight (diabetes, bad knees, etc, etc) and I believe that this would be a good workout for her because of the fact that it is so gentle. I’ll keep my fingers crossed! I would definitely be willing to send updates for myself and my mom as we work through the program.

Thanks for the write-up on this workout – it’s very helpful!

    • There is a special going on right now. Every third Tuesday Teresa has a Deep Discount special. Go to the homepage, scroll to the bottom. Most packages are around 40 dollars.

  27. Woo Hooo Charlotte!!! And the Thunderbirds (Gym Buddies) are Gooooooo! I’m so glad you posted the video too. Can the ultimate slacker give you a hot tip? Your T-Tapp stance is toooooooooo wide and the “hide the lady parts/tummy pooch” won’t disappear until you bring those feet closer to each other. But — you proved something I’ve been the poster child for since 1998, even if you don’t do it just right, you’ll still get results.

Teresa has some great trainers and I think one is near you. You should try a form class to experience the real burn-y power T-Tapp. I come from a dance background and it’s hard to let go of a lot of the programming to create better form…we tend to be duck footed and we also lean back and stick out our chests rather than get into good posture.

Also — you have a lot of people who want to try T-Tapp and win your giveaway….but you probably didn’t know this — today is Deep Discount Tuesday (happens once a month) over at T-Tapp and today’s features include Basic Plus for $20!!!! and a lot of the advanced workouts are on sale….like Tempo Lower Body that has the standing and floor versions of Diva Derriere on it. Teresa seems to be in the holiday spirit — these don’t EVER go on sale…and trust me I watch because I’m “frugal”… okay — more aptly said, I never NEVER pay retail. Also, every 10 days for over 10 years Teresa has given away 10 workouts to people who enter the drawing on her web site — free is good. 🙂

I love your before and after picture — your posture is sooo good! And your tummy disappeared! There does seem to be a strange growth on your butt that has gotten smaller too (hehehehe). It does my little slacker heart good to see your photos — I might even do the workout TWO times this month. I’m only committing to the 15 minute though — I’ve done the Total Workout….um….two times in my lifetime (with near-miraculous pooping on both occasions I might add).

Loved you post too about being an HSP — I have a good friend who experiences life far more intensely than I do. I sent it to her. Good stuff in there!!!

  28. I would LOVE to try this system! I’ve had issues with edema for the past year, and my current regime of zumba/essential oils/stretching/diet aren’t getting rid of it. In fact, the zumba is starting to bother my knees. I think that the claim of “pumping the lymphoid system” is promising. At this point, I’ll do ANYTHING to get rid of all of this water. It’s like being 9 months preg all over again! THANKS!

  29. I am very interested in trying this workout! I have been doing some of the free exercises from the website, but I think I need more of the videos to help with the form. The little sample videos on there are nice, but I would like more.

I don’t have a gym membership anymore due to finances so I am limited to the workouts I can do at home. My family owns a crossfit gym but unfortunately it is about an hour & a half away – too much of a commute for a workout – and I’m running out of things I can do without the equipment.

Also, as someone who sits at a desk ALL DAY I can definitely use some help with my posture!!

  30. I’m probably not your girl for this, as I’m a yoga freak currently getting into ski season out in Denver…but you have me intrigued enough to want to try it out. I used to do Buns of Steel in high school with my friend from volleyball, and despite the shape we were in from 2+ hours in a low squatting position every day, that shiz BURNED. We would cry out in pain and laughter from how absurdly much it hurt.

I hope T-Tapp is like that! Gotta try it from the privacy of my living room…with the bathroom nearby. 😉

  31. Um, yes please. I broke my back years ago which caused good posture and me to go our separate ways. My doctor said that if I work on my posture it may help with pain. I would love to try this. I have just started out on my “Return to Hotness” journey after several babies, several job changes and subsequent moves, and the loss of a dear friend. So if it is me I will be happy as a clam. Thanks for your wonderful, witty blog. I am a fan.

  32. I so desperately wanted the flat tummy thing to work that I’m not ready to give up, I want to try it myself! (Yes, I have a difficult relationship with my tummy, more so than with any other part of me.) Seriously, though, I tried the diva derriere thing, and I’m intrigued. It feels effective, yet there is no soreness the day after. Also, I often work out at home and don’t have much equipment, plus I have dodgy knees and a bad back which rule out some obvious choices for workouts. Low impact, yet enough of a challenge? Worth a try, I’d say.

  33. I’d love to try it out – I’m always on the lookout for fun new workouts!

  34. No need to enter me Charlotte BUT it was all worth the video! 🙂 Too funny!

As for posture, all my weight lifting & keeping proper form for that has made me very aware of my posture. And yes, wish there was a magic something to let me eat whatever I want to but I know that is not gonna happen!

  35. I would love to try these vidoes out! I am a teacher and I feel like I am always hunched over at my podium or grading at my desk. I’ve also noticed how bad my students’ postures are too, so maybe I could even use some of these exercises as a morning routine beofre we get started with classwork!!

  36. I would love to try this workout. I especially was drawn to the improved posture idea. I sit at my computer too much and it seems like I am always slumping now. Please pick me!

  37. I would LOVE to try this. Right now, I am not allowed to do any exercise with impact (I haven’t been allowed to for the past 5 months). I’ve been going crazy with boredom with what I am allowed to do, and it’s also very frustrating that most of what I can do does not feel like exercise at all! I am used to being fit and pushing myself hard, and T-tap seems like something that would be a challenge, but still be do-able. I tried the diva derriere workout and loved it! (Through the burning). I am not be a full blown exercise addict, but I am an exercise lover, and I would LOVE to try a “real” workout! Unfortunately, I just can’t afford to buy the system, since my health problems are expensive as well as restricting. And because they are chronic, this is likely to continue to happen, so knowing I have something I can do even when things get really bad would be a huge stress reliever.
I’m also going to Mexico for Christmas (in just over 1 month), and instead of being excited, I’m kind of dreading it, since I’ve been getting out of shape/gaining weight, especially in the last couple months.
Anyway, I could promise you that if I did this I would do it every day, and LOVE it! I know it’s going to be a hard choice, but I would be sooo happy and thankful if you picked me!

  38. Hi Charlotte! Last time I commented was about a year ago when you wrote that beautiful post about the three gifts–I was pregnant at the time and it really touched me. (I still think about it often actually.) I’d love to do this workout and report back on it. My little one is four months now, laughing and smiling til i melt, but my core is trashed and my back/posture is too. Sounds like this could do wonders for a back-to-basics girl like me. Thanks for sharing.

  39. Oh how I was just thinking that this sounds like a program I need to try! Yay for giveaways…..

  40. I really need to rebuild my neurokinetic pathways. I have a neurological disorder that is affecting my brain, nerves, and muscles. It has made it really hard to activate the muscles in my body doing simple daily activities. I have been working on trying to retrain my muscles to work better so I can walk better and balance better.

I try to search out workouts that will help stimulate these systems together to help activate the muscles. It is important for me to maintain my mobility the best I can. These workouts will help me to remain mobile and fit. I really need these to keep moving. Please.

  41. I am entering this one on behalf of my sisters. Due to joint injuries and shin splints she cannot do any workouts with impact on knees or hips, so this workout sounds perfect.! She has tried yoga, but even that can hurt, and it is hard to get a lower body workout when any kind of lunging position is out. I tried the diva derriere workout with her, and we both loved it (or hated it? There was yelling, butt punching and giggling involved).

  42. I’m SOOOO glad that you did a review of the T-Tapp program! I’d love the system but your review is so helpful too. I have a little one (16 months) and a husband who has after work committments two nights a week. It would be great to have a workout option that I can do in my home after she’s asleep. I can’t get into any of the netflix videos–I’m trying a new one every night I have to myself–and really need a kick start in this fitness journey.

Thanks for your reviews! I find them so helpful. And your sense of humor is LOVELY! 🙂 So fun to have found your blog. 🙂

    • check out youtube instead of netflix. 🙂

      • Oh thanks Lisa! I will definitely try that. Never thought of it, to be honest. Anything you recommend specifically/especially?

        • All of them? 😀 Ok: Hoedowns, T-Tapp Twists, Lunges. I was sort of answering off the cuff when I said “all of them”, but as I am going through the pages, there is lots of good stuff. I love the testimonials because these are real people with real results! It sounds too good to be true, but in my experience, it is all true. 🙂 And now I sound like I’m trying to sell something. 🙂 All my life I have hated organized exercise, but once I found, or rather my sister found, T-tapp and I stuck with it, I became a Tapper for life.

  43. Oh awesome!! I would totally try this out!! And I would ask my sister to join me. She is just beginning working out and already her body is transforming! I’d give feedback on the both of us – one newbie and a workout vet 🙂

  44. It would be great to try this out! Now that winter is setting in, I can’t count on being able to actually leave my house to get to the gym (Case in point: Today it was -40 at the South Pole weather station, but -42 at my house in Fairbanks, Alaska. My car will not start. I skipped yoga class, caught a bus home, and did the Diva Derriere in my living room). Any tools I have to help me work out at home would be greatly appreciated!

  45. I was pretty skeptical of the claimed results but I do love the excellent posture aspect! Thanks!!

  46. ohhhh, I want to win this! I’ve been fascinated by T-Tapp since I picked up a book in the library, but never quite had the spare cash to invest in the dvds and whatnot. I never win anything (original statement award! right here!), but I’ve got my fingers crossed for this one.
And forgive me if this is an inappropriate comment, but I can’t imagine where you would want to lose inches from. You totally puncture my “oh, cut yourself some slack, you’ve had four kids” argument in my head. You look amazing.

  47. I’m always looking to try something new!

  48. I hate to exercise, but found my body looking worse and worse, having lost my incredibly thin body I had as a child/teen/20-something.

Started T-Tapp–I do the Basic Workout Plus (15 minute program) 3x a week, and other exercises (Diva Derriere, Awesome Legs, Organs in Place/Half Frogs.

It’s the first exercise program I have stuck with! I didn’t even know if I’d like it, since it’s not set to music, but I do! Meanwhile, I’ve got a waistline again and I feel stronger.

I think there are different methods that work for different people. Give T-Tapp a try–it may be the one for you!

(BTW, I learned about your blog via the T-Tapp newsletter. She linked to your review.)

  49. I think one of the reasons that you didn’t see inch koss is because you are in good shape. I have tapped for a few years and when I had more weight to lose, like this past time after having a baby, I saw more dramatic results. When I only had to lose a size or tone up, it was much slower. Keep it up and you might be surprised! Also, do the Organs in Place exercise that comes with the book EVERY DAY. It really flattens the tummy. And the body brushing and alfalfa really blast through cellulite.

  50. I enjoyed the lighthearted evaluation of T Tapp experiment. First learned of T Tapp from a Menopause book in January of 2011. It was highly recommended by the author and I checked it out. . Read the testimonials but skeptical of the claims. I decided to give it a try because of menopause symptoms.I started on Jan 20, 2011 Bottomline this is my week 45 doing T Tapp. Inches lost -34.875. I am 2 years short of 60 but can shop at the junior sections. Went crazy buying skinny jeans by summertime then dropped next size down -4 miss size before I could wash my newly bought jeans a few times. I had surgery and was told not to exercise for 3 weeks. I gained 3 inches T Tapp worked for me.Re menopause symptoms except for mild hot flashes which rarely occurs anymore I am very happy to have my youthful measurement back. I have most of the DVDs. I hate floor exercises like diva and awesome legs but will be adding it to my repertoire if I can talk myself into it. I do mostly the standing exercises. 2 to 3 times a week. The broom exercise is another favorite.

  51. Teresa linked to your blog from her newsletter so you’ll be getting a lot of Ttappers commenting. I am shocked none of you lost inches. I lost over 20 inches during my first 2 week Ttapp bootcamp. Admittedly I wasn’t in phenomenal shape like you are and I had a lot to lose. I have been Ttapping for 4 years now and love it! I don’t do it regularly but for me and my body, there’s nothing like 2 weeks of hoe downs to take my tummy down. You may not have seen results because of your form. I went to a trainer when I started Ttapping to make sure I had the correct form. I had read the book and checked out the website but the trainer gave me tons of tweaks that I didn’t pick up from the book or website. Correct form makes all the difference.

  52. I really appreciate your candid review. I have tried similar type classes where the focus is on isolation and though it burns like hell in my experience- just because it burns like hell doesn’t mean it’s burning a ton of calories! Nor is it an efficient use of time. I think the best workout for seeing major results (quickly) is one that combines functional, full-body resistance sets with cardio intervals. Melts inches.

  53. I’ve tried the T-Tapp workouts a few times, and I really like them. I am overweight and have scoliosis. I also have almost zero time for workouts, so the 15 minutes really appeals to me. I cannot run because of the scoliosis, so I look for highly effective workouts. Thanks for doing the reviews!

  54. Have you announced the winner of this giveaway? I haven’t seen it anywhere and there is no mention of how long this contest lasts. Thanks!

  58. Charlotte, thank you for this evaluation of T-Tapp. I had Tivo’ed it from a local public broadcasting station back in November and just watched it today. I look at this program with a modicum of skepticism, but I’m definitely intrigued by the hormonal balancing potential along with the lower back relief. Oddly enough, I had just been adjusted by a chiropractor for a sciatic issue prior to watching the T-Tapp program.
I enjoyed your humor and candor in your evaluation and I will bookmark you for further workout program reviews. By the way, I am a road cyclist and runner (recovering from a fracture), but I am always interesting in learning about new exercise programs.

  60. As someone who has had personal instruction w/ a T-Tapp trainer, let me be the first to say that the inch losses are absolutely real with proper form, which I can’t even imagine you had correct if three of you didn’t lose:( Currently my girlfriend and I are on our 4th week and I’m down 3 inches just in my waist!!! Absolutely worth seeking a trainer and giving another go!!!

  61. I saw the T-tapp program on my local pbs station, so wanted to research it. Wondered if you might have had a review. Googled. Sure enough, you have tried it! Thanks! I have ordered the book from my library, to give it a try.

  62. Thank you so much for this review!

  65. I don’t have any DVD’s but-as you say, form seemed to be stressed in the book. From your video, both your legs appear way too spread as opposed to her stance doing hoe downs video which came in the Fit & Fab book. I’m going to get and try for myself from her combo DVD.

    Very Interesting, thank you.

  66. I’ll pass on the giveaway, but yeah, I’m on the magic bullet quest too. I really just wanted to say thank you for your honest take on these DVDs. I subscribe to a wellness blog and had my finger poised over the 1 click-buy-now! button based on her elaborately glowing review. I’m still intrigued, but now it can wait.

  68. I’m a Johnny-come-lately here, but I wanted to suggest that maybe you didn’t see inch loss from T-Tapp because you’re already tiny! I can’t speak to your pals who had more fat to lose, but I’ve noticed that T-Tapp’s website, book, and DVDs really never show anyone ending up a size 2 – even Teresa Tapp herself is a 6. Also, your bust measurement probably went down because the deep breathing in the workout tightened up your rib cage, which is good.

Remember that “less is more” with T-Tapp. Working the same muscles every day doesn’t give them a chance to build, and it’s not until then that the isometrics really work. If you’re inclined, try it again with no more than a 4-day bootcamp, then go to 3 times a week. Think long-term, and be aware of how your body feels and looks overall versus focusing on skinny. I do the workout, and while I’m not skinny like I was 10 years ago when I did intense aerobics (I’m 47 now), I’m shapely now. For a short-torso body type like me, that’s a miracle! I also went through menopause with nothing more than a few months of occasional warmish flashes, minimal weight gain, and no mood swings. Long, fat-packing, miserable menopauses run in my family. I believe T-Tapp was the difference.

Finally, since T-Tapp doesn’t build muscle bulk, I think it takes more time – not less – to lose fat than with traditional isotonic workouts. So I also wish the quickie claims weren’t so grandiose, but honestly, without them I would never have tried this workout, and I’m so glad I did now. Thanks for your review!

  69. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own weblog and was wondering what all is required to get set up? I’m assuming having
a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet smart so I’m not
100% certain. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kudos

  70. I know this is way late but did you end up giving all the DVDs away? Thanks

    • Yes, I’m sorry:) But if you’re interested keep checking Theresa’s site – I know she does giveaways there!

  73. I have been doing t-tapp on and off for over 10 yrs and I can tell you it works:) looks to me from the video y’all are not doing the workout right…doing it way too fast and without proper form…you are really suppose to go through the instructional videos for a week or two before moving on to doing the workout straight through. Also like someone else pointed out you and your friend in the video are pretty thin…you are not going to see big inch loss…just a lot of tightening and toning and if your a combo body type or border line combo that could take up to a year. I believe this workout isn’t a quick fix but more of a long term health healing choice. Good luck and I hope you continue:)

  74. I’m a 66 year old female with arthritis on social security. Good routines for my age and condition are hard to find. Low to no impact is what I need and it seems to me this type of exercise can actually help me with my pain of arthritis. Hope you still have the dvd routine available and that you select me. Thank you.

  76. Love your analysis. Very helpful. I’ve just started T-Tapp (53 years old, 100 pounds to lose). My legs have hurt — not just ached, but have been extremely painful — for a few weeks. After watching the Yes, You Can seminar DVD and doing the few sample exercises in that seminar, my legs didn’t hurt AT ALL for a few days. I think muscle memory went to work, and they started hurting again, but doing 10 minutes of the MORE DVD once again helped. That in itself sold me, but I hope it will also help me lose weight/inches.

  77. I love t tapp it is the most amazing exercise out there if I want results u have come as close as possible to perfect form this is mind n body not for someone to do mindlessly it takes focus n the rewards amazing I lost 10 inches in two weeks the fact that u did not lose means u went through the motions

  78. Hi, I wonder if you guys applied the form tips if it would work better for you. Alignment is everything and from the video, that may have been the issue.

  79. I’m so glad to find I’m not crazy. I gained inches EVERYWHERE after a month of T-Tapp, and I’m quite overweight.

  80. Wow I can’t believe you ladies didn’t lose inches with T-Tapp. Post two c-section babies and large tummy pouch!! grr In my first 2 weeks lost 14 inches and followed up in the next 6 months with a total of 45 inches and 7 clothes sizes gone! Give it a go anyone who is interested you will not be disappointed.

I would LOVE to win this workout, please. I’m 61, with multiple joint / back / shoulder / hip issues, and i have started Trim Healthy Mama (THM) to try to lose some weight. Many people at THM talk about T-Tapp. I loved your review, and really would like to try this.

  82. I would love to win this workout system! I am a mother of 10 kids and gained over 100 lbs giving birth over the years. I need to lose this weight for my kids so I can spend quality time with them and live longer for them.

  83. I would love , love , love to win anything from the contest. I’ve been doing t Tapp for a month and it helps me get through everyday with minimized neck pain from a previous neck injury. I struggle with hypothyroidism so battle fatigue frequently. When I do the basic 15 min. Workout, I’m rejuvenated and neck pain is less. I’ve not done the other work out s due to shortage of funds so would really be blessed to win anything..Thank you!!!

Hi! Thank you for your write up. I think you are already in such good shape that you did not see the results you expected. I hope I win the videos because I have a long way to go to get fit and I think I would see a dramatic difference. It would be good feedback for older women who are wondering if body sculpting at 66 is a pipe dream or not. I am a massage therapist and if I can be successful with t-tapp for women who need to regain their strength, it would be a great service for my girls. I am willing to be the Guinea pig and do the whole program for myself and them. I hope and pray I win the videos and Thank you for offering – that was really sweet. Blessings, Victoria

  87. Hilarious………Had a hearty laugh seeing the vid.

  88. Hi! I am doing the boot camp. I have reviewed the conference DVD and there is a lot of information if you are seriously trying this program. Your form and moves weren’t correct which she says is essential for success.

  89. I would love, love, LOVE this. It claims to help blood sugar which i have bern struggling with since we moved right after my youngest was born. He was the fourth (and unexpected pregnancy) after three losses in 18 months. It also says it helps with frozen shoulder, neck, back and knee pain. My combat vet hubby and I have those in spades. Doing the free ones on the internet is the only relief I’ve gotten for my current back issue if only for a little at a time. I tried her book but felt i really need to see it to understand it. Finances are tight (like everyone I’m sure). I need to tone up to ferl better, but uf it helped the blood sugar and back issues it would be a Godsend. Thank you for making the offer. Blessings on what you do.

  90. Great write up! I am a middle aged lady (almost 60) with a bad back and I actually used the T-Tapp More to get my back in shape! I had heard it might work and was so shocked when it actually did! I’m like you though and once I moved on to the Basic Work Out I started getting the feeling that I wasn’t doing it right so I contacted a local t-tapp trainer and she got me doing all the moves right in no time! I went from a tight size 16 (I’m 5’9) to a loose size 16 in 3 weeks just doing t-tapp for an hour twice a week. I’m happy and I plan to get a lot more intense with this ‘work out from heaven’ for my poor old body! (I can definitely see how it wouldn’t have a radical effect for people who are in super shape like you ladies, but for someone who thought they’d never be able to do intense exercise again, I’m THRILLED!)
