Are You a Lotion Junkie Too? [bodycology Review & Giveaway!]

Dirty gym floors. Public pools (that my child may or may not have pooped in causing the whole place to be evacuated like Jaws was let loose). Restroom floors (the time that my child locked himself in a stall and I had to shimmy under the door). My point: My kids are disgusting. Kidding! My point is that every day I put my skin in some seriously compromising positions. Thanks to my hazardous lifestyle – Evel Knievel would be jealous if he weren’t so busy being dead – I think a lot about my skin. While most of the time it does a miraculous job of keeping me healthy and happy, my one complaint is how dry it is. And I mean D-R-Y. In the winter I have to avoid crying all together because the salt in my tears burns my face. (Reason #24 why I don’t go to Nicholas Sparks movies.) You could say I’m obsessed with lotion.

Over the years I’ve tried tons of different body washes, creams, lotions and so forth but I’ve never really found anything that I love. So when I got the chance to try the new bodycology rich&creamy line of Body Washes and Lotions, I jumped on it. (Plus they offered to give free stuff to you guys and I love it when you guys get free stuff!)

The first time I used it I thought I made a mistake. When I squirted it out into my hand to rub on my legs before shaving them (am I the only one who uses plain bodywash for shaving instead of a fancy cream?), I thought “Aw, crap, I just squirted the lotion into my hand! I must have brought the wrong bottle in the shower! And now I’m going to have to get out naked and dripping and run for the other bottle and hope the neighbors don’t see me although why the neighbors would be peeping in my front window I don’t know…” At some point my internal monologue shut off long enough to read the bottle. I’d gotten the right bottle – it was the Body Wash. It was just so thick and creamy I thought it was lotion! When I put it on my legs, it stayed on like lotion too. Rather than washing off in the water before I can say ‘razor burn’ like normally happens, it stayed put the whole time. Awesome.

When I got out of the shower, I covered myself in lotion like I always do – seriously I need to just move to the Amazon already – and paused at my feet. Normally I use a special foot lotion that’s extra strength or something to help with all the cracks I get in my heels from running around barefoot all summer. But I figured I’d try the bodycology stuff and really put it to the test. It worked just as well as my usual lotion! Meaning it made me slip on the tile just like I do every day (you’d think I’d learn but no, every day). And it moisturized my nasty cracked-out feet. The great thing is that the bodycology Lotion is under $5 while my regular stuff is… not that cheap.

It also had a nice light scent. Win all around! My only complaint is that it took me 10 minutes to figure out which end to open. I kept pulling on the colored part instead of the obvious cap because, well, I have no explanation. My husband has to open all the kids’ birthday toy packaging for them.

  1. I like the looks of the Refreshing body wash. I always go for anything that has cucumber and/or green tea in the name 🙂

  2. I have a travel sized bottle of the Midnight Garden body mist and I would LOVE to try to the lotion!

  3. Ultra Rich sounds fun. Go big or go home!

  4. Good lord do I need the advanced healing with shea and cocoa butter. I can’t stand my own feet, let alone bear to touch my boyfriend with them!

  5. Ah man, you get the best products to review. I love the sound of the deep cleansing body wash. LOVE citrus based items. Otherwise the stress relief lotions sounds tempting too.

I don’t use fancy shaving creams either. I have uber sensative skin (aka, I wish shaving had never been invented and hairy legs was the new sexy). I actually tend to just use baby oil and that really helps when I am shaving regularly during the summer. Plus my legs are silky afterwards. Just be careful while prancing in the shower, it gets a little slippy.

  7. Cucumber melon hand and body lotion, yeah!

And I USED TO have a problem with my heels but not any moooooore. Read or saw on Oprah that if you wipe your heels (any problem area, really) with a stridex pad, THEN apply lotion, put on socks and go to bed, you wake up with heels that are like baby butts. It took a couple nights but worked like a charm for me. Makes a LOT more sense than digging away with a metal file or stone; kinder and gentler!

  8. I would love to try the Ultra Rich body wash. Shea Butter + Cocoa butter == WIN for my poor skin. I have psoriasis, and hydration is key to keeping my skin from screaming.

  9. I like anything cucumber melon scented, so I’d go with that one.

  10. Not an entry! As I’m Canadian!

However, Calgary is insanely dry, and so I go through lotion like no ones business. I’ve been using stuff from Skoah (which I believe is a local company), or L’Occitane for my hands, because the dryness is ridiculous.

Another good trick is the base for medicated lotions- which you can get from the pharmacy without a prescription, is the most amazing thing in the winter, and doesn’t irritate anything. Ever.

I’ll keep an eye out for Bodycology in Canada, since I’m always on the hunt for a new lotion, and one that’s reasonably priced.

  11. Ultra rich. I’m going to go out and try some right now!

  12. I have such dry skin it makes it hard for me to sleep. I think the ultra rich formula might help?

  13. I would try the hydrating body wash – give me a head start for the dry winter air!

  14. I know I would LOVE the Sweet Petals scent! The Fresh Apple sounds nice too!

  15. Hmm…the deep cleansing one sounds yummy…..

  16. Am I the only person who, after using a vanilla or sugary scented body wash, wants to chew on her arm because it smells so tasty? Just me? Okay then!

I’d like to try the Deep Cleansing Body Wash (mmmm, grapefruit!) and the Coconut Lime Shower Gel.

  17. I definitely just use body wash when I shave my legs – glad I’m not the only one!

The Bodycology Deep Cleansing Body wash sounds really nice! Or the Coconut Lime Body Cream! I’m a sucker for any citrus or tropical smelling bath products…

  18. oooh vanilla cupcake and island coconut! sounds tasty 🙂

  19. Vanilla Cupcake! Apple Orchard! I LOVE creamy body washes and emollient lotions!!!!!
And yes, I use body wash to shave, and I love smelling like a fruit salad in summer and a freshly-baked treat in winter.

  20. I would love the clean lemon, as I love any citrus scent, as well as the body cream as my skin is dry no matter what time of year or where I am!

  21. Outfits. Hearts. Liver. And now lotions! We really are twinsies! I really liked the rich and creamy formula. I also tried to open the wrong end of the bottle first! Ha ha!!!

  22. The hydrating formula looks perfect for me! I suffer from dry skin year-round (even living in terribly humid Kentucky), and now that I’m pregnant again, I know my belly is going to need some extra hydration soon as the skin begins to stretch and dry out!

  23. I’m going to say the deep cleansing, only because after my runs I tend to need a deep cleansing 😉

  24. The Cucumber Melon sounds refreshing! That combo gets me everytime!

  25. I’m going with skin-softening. 🙂

  26. Definitely coconut lime. I am an island girl after all 🙂

  27. I would LOVE anything White Gardenia…or apple….cucumber melon…ok, not too picky. Anything would be wonderful!

  28. I want them all! Maybe the nourishing or ultra rich. They all sound amazing. Advanced healing for the lotion. Brown sugar vanilla for the hand soap!

    Love!

  29. I checked out the FB page & they have a lot of LIKES! Why have I not heard of them!

  30. like @barb I also would love the Cucumber Melon . But i’m sure all are very nice.
    Hope i win 🙂

    thank you for the contest

  31. It contains silk? Are they kidding? So we’ve found another way to exploit other creatures. SIlk production is cruel. To make silk the larvae are steamed or gassed alive in their cocoons. Surely in this day and age we can make a lotion that doesn’t involve cruelty. Seriously!

  32. Def. Vanilla Cupcake! I love baked goods scented things

  33. I’m a lotion nut too, I would probably go for the Advanced healing lotion because I hate how dry and itchy my skin is in the winter. (Well, dry and itchy is putting it mildly, there are a lot of other adjectives I can use to describe my skin in winter.)

  34. I used to have horribly dry skin, cracking heels to the point of bleeding, and nothing worked long term. Then I found out I have very sever hypothyroidism, which causes dry skin. Go figure! I take Armour, a natural medicine and after four years I think we are finally getting it to balance, aka, my skin is not so dry! YEAH!!!!! What I have been using recently, and love it, is coconut oil. I am trying to stay away from as many chemicals as I can. It works great. It has helped my skin in so many ways.

  35. I like the hydrating formula

  36. Ok, I really want to try this stuff! It looks like it’s awesome. I really want to try the hydrating body wash and lotion because my skin is dry and I have to use super lotion in the winter. I also would share it with my dry kids…well maybe I would.

  37. Anything coconut lime for me!! Sounds good enuff to eat…haha!! Thanks for hosting the giveaway 🙂

  38. I’m going with the skin softening formula, it sounds delicious! As for shaving, I use Neutrogena body oil. Slather it on, shave, & go.

  39. So many choices! Alas the nourishing or deep cleansing would be fantastic!

  40. I’m going to have to try the cocoa and shea butter advanced healing. I do so hate my skin being so dry!!

  41. And for me? I *must* try the brown sugar vanilla scent. Yum!

  42. I am such a lotion junkie! My husband calls all my various bottles my “lotions and potions” and he hates them, but I must be hydrated!

So many pretty scents! Coconut Lime! Cucumber Melon! Island Coconut! Yes please!

I would also liek to try the Hydrating rich and creamy body wash. Sounds luxurious.

  43. Oh…..I would love to try the stress relief with lavendar and chamomille!

  44. mmm! vanilla cupcake! that way, if I’m ever in a jam, and i’m really hungry, i’ll just lick my arm or something…it’ll also give me good motivation to master the art of licking my own elbow…wait…is that too weird? 🙂

  45. Advanced healing with shea butter is what I need, please! Would love to try this blend!

  46. I never buy any “girly” products for myself. I would love to win this!

  47. The Nourishing body wash with soy and shea butter looks like a winner!

  48. I am not a lotion Junkie (I usually forget I own it about a day after I buy it!), however, I LOVE body washes and good smelling shower things. With the exception of July and August, my skin really dries out in the Minnesota air. So, I would go for the Hydrating body wash first! Although, with the current humidity, I think the Sweat Petals shower gel and bubble bath would be great, too!

  49. And for my second chance to win, I tweeted here:
    https://twitter.com/#!/LaraDietrich

  50. Ultra Rich – love the shea and cocoa butter combo.

  51. For me it would be the Nourishing Body Wash. I don’t tend to get very dry, so something to make my skin more radiant is all I need. This stuff looks amazing! I can’t believe it’s so affordable!

  52. The cucumber melon sroducts osunds so refreshing. I play soccer on the weekends and after playing in 90 degree weather refreshing is what I need.

  53. The Refreshing Body Wash sounds cool.

  54. I would like to try the Hydrating Wash.

  55. Deep cleansing with grapefruit and apricot extract to combat the summer dirt and oil! lonyae dot a dot thomas at vanderbilt dot edu

  56. Refreshing sounds about right. 🙂

  57. I’m not that into the lotions, but I absolutely adore body washes! It’s good to know the lotions are good too, though, as I have a friend who likes lotions a lot… might be a good gift to get her some smelly lotions! thanks for the review.

  58. Never used lotion at all but loved the Sandelwood Rose that BB &BW used to make… But no more… Why

  69. I would love this. I live in New Mexico, and needless to say, my skin is in a constant state of near-death…

  70. Oh! I am totally a lotion junkie. I would love to try the hydrating body wash. In the winter, I have to keep lotion IN THE SHOWER and put it on while I’m still wet because if I towel off first, my skin gets so dry, it HURTS. 🙁

  71. Now I am REALLY mad at myself for getting to behind on blogs – I just bought new moisturizer this weekend! Maybe I’ll get lucky and win so I can give it a try anyway 🙂

  72. I think the hydrating formula with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E would be good for me.

    • iI am very dry too all my life any kind of weather anywhere.
I did buy 2 bottles of bodycology rich & creamy body lotion advancanced healing but it seems walmart dosent carry bodycology anymore . as usual buy something at walmart one day and they will never have it again. Target didn’t have it either. Where can I buy this lotion? Prefer a store instead of internet.
      Thanks
