Simple Fitness Tools to Amp Up Your Workout [Giveaway!]

Rainbow-striped sweat towel? Check. Hair pulled back? Check. Sports bra adjusted to move armpit skin inward so I can pretend it belongs on my chest? Double check! Dumbbells, Harbinger weighted jump rope, and My Trainer 100-Calorie Workout cards? Check! After a set-up routine that would make a shuttle launch jealous, the Gym Buddies and I were finally ready for today’s sweat fest. Well, except for one thing. Nodding solemnly, we slipped on our weight gloves, wrapped the velcro around our wrists and flexed our hands into fists just to hear that leather creak. Now we were ready for some serious workout action.

I’m wearing the Harbinger Flexfit women’s glove. I love it because I have really tiny hands and these are the first weight gloves I’ve found that actually fit me!

We love our weight-lifting gloves. Not only do they help protect our delicate lady hands from unsightly blisters and help us keep a good grip on the ‘bells when our palms get sweaty but they also make us feel, well, bada**. There’s no other word for it. There’s just something about strapping on our black fingerless gloves that makes us feel tough. It reminds me of when I used to strap on my gymnastics grips before doing bars. Just the act of wrapping the straps around my wristbands gave me confidence. (Random bit of trivia: people often think gymnast wear grips to prevent tearing the skin on their hands or getting blisters. The grips are just there to help you grip the bar better – your hands will still shred until they make zombies jealous or until you get your callouses built up.) And thanks to some gym drama that I can’t talk about on this site because it was partially caused by this site (wait, I think I saw this once in a movie… it ended with Sandra Bullock killing some dude with a fire extinguisher), the Gym Buddies and I need all the toughness we can muster. Yeah that was mean, if you’re really curious e-mail me and I’ll fill you in. We’ve even been known to wear our weight gloves long after we’ve finished lifting just, you know, ’cause we can. We swagger. Steal candy from babies (which is a lot harder than you’d think!). You know, tough stuff.

See how tough we are! Like mad… chipmunks! It might help if we stopped smiling.

Today’s workout was a circuit made up of Tabata intervals Β of speed jump roping alternated with weight lifting and plyometric moves from MizFit’s new 100-calorie workout cards. This was awesome for two reasons: first, I love combining weight lifting with high-intensity intervals, so much more bang for your workout buck! And second, because I have long had a deep desire to workout with the inimitable MizFit. Ever since I started blogging, I’ve had a major girlcrush on her and have daydreamed about pumping some iron with her whilst discussing toddler horror stories (even though she’s already told me she doesn’t like talking while she works out but hey, it’s my daydream!). So since she posed as the fitness model demonstrating all the moves on the cards, as I toted her tiny cardboard-mounted self around the gym with me it was almost like living out my dream. She’s an amazing listener, in case you’re curious.

I tried out the My Trainer 100-calorie workout pack and the home workout pack.

For our weight lifting portion, I purchased two sets of 6 cards fromΒ My Trainer and MizFit provided with moves on both front and back. Each card = 1 workout that will burn approximately 100 calories. We’ve already established that I don’t care anymore about how many calories I burn during a workout but I do love a good sweaty challenge so the Gym Buddies and I decided to do all 6 cards back-to-back. Three times through. We’re insane. I know. While the moves were simple – lots of squats, lunges and lateral raises – they were effective and covered all the major body parts, leaving us feeling well worked out.

I get a lot of e-mails from readers asking me for a good program for someone brand new to exercise (sometimes I get so caught up in what we do that I forget that most of our workouts aren’t really beginner friendly) and these cards would be perfect! They’re broken up into totally manageable chunks with each workout card taking us between 6 and 10 minutes to complete 3 sets of. In addition, MizFit provides clear instructions and adorable pictures of how to do each move. Equipment is minimal -some dumbbells, a hula hoop (!!!), and resistance bands.

A close up of the removable weights inside the jump rope’s handles.

For the cardio intervals, Harbinger Fitness provided us with four 2-lb weighted jump ropes. I’d never used a weighted rope before – the removable weights are stored in the handles – and was amazed at how fast it burned out my biceps! Clipping my Gymboss interval timer to my cleavage a la Zuzana of Bodyrock.TV (which I then had to move after remember that I have no cleavage and jumping rope with a piece of plastic thumping against my sternum is really uncomfortable), I tried out a variety of jump rope techniques. Did you know they have whole workouts built around just the humble jump rope? I would love to try one of these classes! We did jumping jacks, one legged hops, the boxer skip, high knees, butt kickers, double unders and crossovers but our favorite was just the regular speed jump. Why? Because we could compete with each other, silly! Krista started it by telling us she did 48 hops in 20 seconds. I beat her with 52 hops. And then Allison spanked us all with a killer 67 hops in 20 seconds!

Gym Buddy Allison knows how to work that rope!

We got a great cardio and weight interval workout with time to warm up and cool down (i.e. take pictures of our sweaty selves – normally we take pics before the workout but today I thought we’d give you the gross sweaty-bangs version) in less than an hour!

Do you wear weight gloves? Have you ever done a jump rope workout? What do you do (or wear or say) that makes you feel seriously bada**??

Interested in getting some of your own gear? Leave me a comment and one GFE winner will get their own weighted rope and 2 different sets of My Trainer workout cards! U.S. only for this one, sorry:( But anyone can still enter my PlanetGear giveaway! Both giveaways end Saturday at midnight.

P.S. At the risk of turning this post into one huge product placement – FTC, I got the rope, and the gloves for free but was not compensated in any other way (I bought the cards myself!) – I want to add how much I love my Gymboss timer. They’re not paying me to say this. I don’t get an affiliate fee or anything from them. I just really think it’s a great workout tool; we use it all the time. And also, because I know someone will ask, my supercute tunic top and capri tights are from J.C. Penney. I know! They have some seriously cute and durable workout gear for amazingly cheap. Again, not getting paid nor did I get any free stuff from them (although if you read this J.C. Penney and want to sponsor me, I’m your girl!) but I adore their stuff.

One of many outtakes of me trying to look tough. See why I need the gloves?? I’d have no credibility on my own!

  1. I would love to try that weighted jump rope. I havent jump roped much since about 7th grade. It’s time to start again I think πŸ™‚

  2. Love all your kiss a$$ poses. But if you really want to be tough, you “gym bunnies” will need a tougher name. It’s late at night and my brain isn’t working any more, so I can’t come up with anything clever. I bet you could, though, if you wanted to. Keep up the funny and informative posts.

  3. Couldn’t agree more with you about the workout glove. I’ll skip my workout if I forget to bring them along.

Check out http://www.thesafeweightloss.com/ for great weight loss tips

  4. Ok, so I got a cheap weighted jump rope, and guess what, it’s kinda crap. The rope bit is such light plastic that it just sort of swooshes around instead of whipping or swinging. Needless to say, I can’t really buy another one…BUT if I were to happen to WIN one, that would be awesome!

  5. wow apparently I will have to visit JC Penny for the first time since the 4th grade when my Mom still got to choose where I shopped. That stuff looks amazingggg on you, but maybe it’s you and not the clothes πŸ™‚

Obviously I would like to win some stuff so put me in for that! I’m totally with you on the gear thing, towel, water, gloves, HRM, ipod, I like it all.

  6. Ha ha!! I was totally going to ask where you got that workout top!!!!! I must have missed Miz’s workout cards! How fun! I don’t wear gloves when I workout b/c bare handed makes me feel badazz. I’m proud of my callouses. If my hands start to get too trashed, I take it as a sign that my body has had enough or my technique needs improvement.

  7. Alyssa (azusmom)

I have a Walk Vest that looks like a bulletproof vest an ATF agent would wear. I must say I feel pretty bada** when I strap that thing on.
Then I go power walking and look silly, and all my bada**ness goes out the window.
    *Sigh.*
    I also love my gloves!

    • Ooooh! I forgot about my pink weighted gloves that I use in my cardio boxing and kickboxing workouts! They came with the “10-Minute Solution” kickboxing DVD!

  8. I just got those same gloves this past weekend. I don’t use them for weight lifting. I don’t mind the callouses and rips (when my coworkers ask why my hands are all taped up, I tell them it was a bar fight. Which is true). But there’s a pull up bar in the park near my house that’s got too small a diameter for me to get a good grip on, especially for kipping pull ups. Those weight gloves, with the padding, are perfect.

  9. Geez – I so totally want those cards and rope ! But I’m in Australia – I’d pay you postage ?

    • I tried to order the cards but the website won’t let me without a promo code – does anyone know what that is ?

      • I entered N/A in the Promo field in case anyone else is having trouble with it πŸ™‚

I’ve ordered them now and can’t wait to get them !

  10. I was so busy drooling over the cards and rope that I forgot to mention I also love my weight gloves. I feel like a super hero as I strap them on – or a bad*ss !

  11. I’m pretty sure that workout gloves are the best invention ever for fitness self-esteem. I love mine. Unfortunately they were relegated to a drawer because I do most of my training with kettlebells and they interfere with grip strength development from what I’m told. At this point it would just about take an ice pick to remove my calluses so I don’t really need them so much anymore, haha. Also, I’ve been silently creeping around your blog since December. I check it every day (multiple times!) for new posts. You’ve made me laugh, cry, and fume. Hats off to you!

  12. Thanks for perpetuating my ever-growing fitness wants =) The gymboss timer and fingerless gloves just made my wish list (they’re cheap, so I’m sure my friends would love to get these for my birthday. I’d rather buy food).

I’ve been using the Aerojump dvd (by Michael Olajide Jr). I hadn’t jumped rope since elementary school, so this workout was, well…eep! I made it through round 5, and I couldn’t walk the next day (well, I did, but that pushed it, so I couldn’t walk the day after that). Yea, that was the anti-Badd*ss moment for me (and the first time I had to use Bengay…felt sooooo old…not even 30 yet).

My Badd*ss moment came when I used a gym for the first time outside of college. I was literally the only girl in the free-weights room, and this one guy was looking at me with a smile that said *whoa, chick in the weight room who knows what she’s doing*. I felt proud. *tear*

  13. I forgot my gloves on Sunday and I swear I got an insta-blister. Those things are like manna from heaven. Don’t leave home without them, kids. Or if you lift at home, don’t lift without them. Which doesn’t sound as cool at all, does it?

Where did you get that blue top? I want your workout wardrobe.

  14. Thanks to you and your GYM FRIENDS whom we’ve already established I COVET for the love…

  15. I used to feel very BA with my PINK weightlifting gloves. I actually see women with the same pair in my gym every so often too… but alas, my dog ripped mine to shreds. I have been too lazy to buy another pair since, but weighted gloves sound absolutely awesome.

(as do those workout cards – I think they’d be a fantastic way to switch up a workout)

  16. Wow… I would love to win. I would look so tough in those gloves and maybe those men would move faster and get off my weight machine if I was wearing them!

  17. I’m pretty proud of myself because I am the clumsiest person EVER and I just finally learned how to jump rope. I think it’s time to step it up with the weighted jump rope.

  18. I can’t jump rope for anything. But, I’d like to learn!

And I go all natural with my hands in the gym. I actually like it when my hands get toughened up.

  19. I feel bad@ss when I pass younger guys in races. I have a pair of gloves, but they felt weird and I like my callouses. They are a source of pride for me that I lift and do pullups.

And I’m glad you said where you bought your outfit because that too is adorable.

  20. I was hoping you were giving away a pair of gloves! πŸ˜‰

Pre-injury, I felt bada** when I would do squats (with the weight bar that’s on a glider so you don’t need a spotter, I have no idea what it it called), I could really crank them out with serious weight on there. Sigh…someday I will get back to that.

  21. Would love to win either, especially with lack of funds for anything these days! I have Harbinger gloves, different than yours, and love them! I have to wear them with all my weight lifting so I got a man’s small cause they make the mens to last longer & they have more padding. Would love those Miz cards! πŸ˜‰

I love reading about your crazy workouts with the buddies! Saw you over at Harbinger too! πŸ™‚

  22. I have a gym boss! It is a pretty cool little gadget for intervals. I guess I feel slightly badass that I have a pullup bar installed in my basement. I can’t actually do an unassisted pullup yet, but I’m working on it it. Yes, I did get it for me – my husband does not work out.

  23. lol I love the pictures of you guys. You’re all so cute…and tough, of course! πŸ˜‰

  24. I love using gear to workout! Somehow, it doesn’t seem as fun without it…

  25. I’ve never worked out with a weighted jumprope but would love to try it!!

  26. Used to do a lot of rope work a few years ago than I gained an insane amount of weight, have now lost most of it and would love to get back into it. Never used a weighted one though, sounds pretty cool. πŸ™‚

  27. How fun! I would love to try a weighted jump rope, and I’d really like to check out the Miz Fit cards. I love taking classes at the Y because I need that person who tells me what to do, but I feel like I am…I don’t know. I hate to say “limiting” myself, but that’s pretty much how I feel. I won’t go workout if there’s no class I want to go to, because I won’t know what to do.

  28. This Misfit LOVES her some MiZfiT!

  29. I would love to try the cards, sometimes you just run out of ideas. (Okay, sometimes I run out of ideas…I bet you and your gym buddies don’t.) I’m not sure about the jump rope, but I would be willing to give anything a try at least once. πŸ™‚

  30. I’m so curious about the weighted skip rope. I’m picking one up so I can hop around like a nut in my yard this summer on the weekends, but I didn’t know they could be weighted. I’ll definitely have to try it.

  31. Those cards sound awesome! Also I bet they wouldn’t make me do the same leg exercise 3 zillion times in a row like my real trainer does…

  32. Jumping rope is one of those exercises that I want to get better at! I’m in shape and can work my way around the gym, but for some reason cannot jump rope well. I’d love to have a weighted rope and gloves!

  33. I’ve never used a jump rope or weight gloves for my workout — but I’m seriously jealous! I’ve been integrating more and more weights into my workouts, as I’ve lost 75+ lbs over the past 2 years and I’m at my goal weight — but just looking to tone up and I know weight training is the way to do that! I’m also VERY interested in cardio weight training, as you said, more bang for your buck! Right now, I’m just doing bursts of HI moves (mountain climbers, squat jumps) between sets of weights, but I think a jump rope would work SO well for this.

    P.S.
I also LOVE my gymboss! Best invention EVER! πŸ™‚

  34. I just go with the callous method because I do so much weightlifting that I keep the callouses on my palms. Some women are scared of getting callouses, but nobody notices them at all! Still, I’m always in favor of anything that helps avoid blisters. Yes, there is a tiny woman in my gym that brings her weightlifting gloves on the elliptical, probably because they match her outfit. πŸ™‚

  35. The jump rope stuff seems awesome. Nothing like some jump rope to put me in my place on how in/out of shape I am…

  36. ok, I gotta say, I LOVE that you are so in love with JCP workout gear! I work for the JCP headquarters way down here in Dallas! πŸ™‚
I’ll have to see if I can hook a girl up!

oh, and I love jump rope workouts! I can do 15 minutes of fast paced jumping and feel just as winded as if I had just run 3 miles! rock on!

  37. I wonder if weight gloves would help my TRX workouts; the grips always tear up my hands.

I haven’t tried jumping rope since I was a kid. I must say the moves have gotten way fancier since then. I’m sure I could reinforce my reputation as the old crazy lady by skipping around my neighborhood. I think it would be worth it!

  38. Oooh, I would love to try the weighted jump rope. And those workout cards would come in handy since my gym membership is expired and I’ve been working out from home. πŸ™‚

  39. Oohh I could use some gloves I’ve got me some calluses from working on my pull-ups. And a weighted jump rope would add even more intensity to my bodyrock workouts! (like they need it πŸ˜‰ The cards look awesome too πŸ˜€

  40. My favourite gym class starts out with 5m of jump roping. It’s actually pretty hard to do for 5m straight, but I’m not very coordinated (so I think I’m also very inefficient with jump-roping).

Regardless, it always reminds me of jump-rope for heart from when I was in elementary school (do that have that program in the US too?). And it reminds me of the song ‘Saturday Night” by Whigfield, because that’s totally the song we jump-roped to in elementary school (I was somewhere between 8 and 10 yrs old). Certain songs make me remember certain events, and in this case, the event makes me remember the song. And, it’s a super catchy song. That reminds me I need to put it on my iPhone for running…

p.s. not an entry…even though Calgary does have a lot of Texan characteristics, it’s not actually in the US (beef…Stampedes…oil/gas…they’re practically the exact same, save the universal health care and snow).

  41. Thanks for posting about the cards! Despite my long fitness experience I don’t really trust myself to come up with a simple yet effective workout with both cardio and weights that hits all the major areas but also doesn’t take 5 hours. I’m definitely going to look into them!

  42. Love the outfit!

I’m still in baby jump-rope territory,
where I have to do a little bounce in between every real jump.

I’m taking a break from dance this summer,
so I’ll be giving your crazy-ass workouts a go in the gym instead!

    πŸ™‚

  43. My jump rope is not so great. Would love to have a good on.e

  44. Check out this insane jump rope routine http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2B2Vrg1Y25c He gets REALLY serious around the one-minute mark. CWAZY!

  45. Those workout cards looks awesome! I’m trying to get my butt back into workout mode and these would be a great tool to get me started! Let me win please! πŸ™‚

  46. I also have (and love) the Gymboss. It’s indispensable for interval running. I also have weight gloves, but I usually forget them at home and just lift without. I’ve been really interested in trying out these new jump rope workouts – it’d be great to win!

  47. I don’t wear gloves when I lift weights – I love my calluses! They are what makes me feel badass.

The jump ropes at my gym really suck – the “rope” bit to too stiff and light to swing very well. I need to get a new (better) sports bra before I can really embrace the jump rope workout, however.

I noticed your wedding ring in the first picture, and Allison wearing a necklace. Am I the only one who takes off all my jewelry when I work out?

  48. Hahahaha “someone” WAS about to ask where you got your waay cute top and capris! And I used to jump rope! Betcha didn’t know that! I heard it was a good way for girls with large thighs to work out. It was great fun, but ultimately my knees declared mutiny and I had to put away the rope…

  49. I will have to hunt down that top!!

I love jump roping – my favorite form of cardio!! Having a weighted rope would be awesome!

  50. I really want to try weight gloves.

I have pink sparring gear for karate (actually most the girls do) so I always feel BA when I beat the guys wearing it.

  51. I would love to try the jump rope and cards! And I’m definitely going to buy some bad*** weight gloves right away!

  52. I tried using a non-weighted jump rope to work-out and it faiilleedd I would love to use a weighted one!

  53. You did all 6 cards back to back? Oh my gosh, I only did one of them yesterday, and I’m having trouble getting on and off the toilet today…I know you understand!

Don’t count me in for the giveaway. Just wanted to share my toilet troubles with you. πŸ™‚

  54. Oh I would love both the cards (I need help coming up with a strength training routine. I’m probably below a beginner) and the weighted jump rope (jumping rope was one of the few activities I loved doing as a kid until I became too embarrassed to do it because of my weight).

  55. Pingback:Gym Hubby + Son 1 + MizFit = Best Spontaneous Workout Ever | The Great Fitness Experiment

  56. I would love to win those cards. I have trouble sometimes coming up with workout ideas, so this would be such a help!

  57. I was actually wondering where you got the top — it’s so cute. I haven’t jumped rope in forever, but I remember it being so much fun when I was a kid. I need to pick it back up!

  58. Ooooh, love the idea of those cards! My kind of workout, I’m not really much of a workout planner and I love having some kind of guide.

  59. Pingback:Gym Hubby and MizFit Teach Me the Value of a Spontaneity [Are you a workout planner or improviser?] | Elite Daily Diet and Fitness

  60. Excellent ideas. I have a regular jump rope, but had no idea I could get a weighted one. It must be a killer workout. Your 6 card 3x workout sounded kicka** too. Sounds like fun. I need to find me some gym buddies πŸ™‚ I have old ratty gloves that fit a man’s small…. they are so loose on me, it is great there are ones to fit us ladies.

  61. So want that jump rope and workout cards!!! My anti-gym hubby has me on lockdown from the gym (long story…) and I desperately want to workout at home!

  62. I totally love my Harbinger gloves. I’ve had them so long they’re all ratty from years of wearings and washings. I love that they’re washable, BTW, because if they weren’t, eww. And, like you, I wear them for both practical and impractical (toughness) purposes. I love my boxing workouts even more for the same reason – I feel bada** with those gloves on! Oh, and I want those MIzfit Fitness Trainer cards really really really bad!

  63. Ooh, I want those cards! As it is highly unlikely I will win them, I will look into getting some for myself.

  64. I’ve never worked out with cards before and considering that I’ll be travelling a lot this summer, they might come in handy!

  65. I am totally a beginner. I need to lose some weight after baby #3, so I would love these cards. Chasing kiddos around all day leaves me needing something quick and easy.

  66. I would love to try the cards! My favorite workout accessory is my husband:-)

  67. You inspired me to dig out an old unused jump rope and go outside and use it! Next time, however, the dog stays in to prevent getting another ‘nose lashing’! Would love to try a new weighted rope & having workout cards would be great for a quick get out of the house workout…..I tend to “over plan” my workouts and do much better when someone just tells me what to do.

  68. I love the idea of these cards!! I travel a LOT for work and these seem perfect to throw in my bag and use when the hotel gym is non-existent. Or broken. Or just a hot mess. Or I could go GFE style and break them out when my 1 hour layover turns into a 4 hour layover again. I promise to take pictures πŸ™‚

  69. I just ran my first half marathon and need something new for awhile before I start training for my next one. These would be great!

  70. I feel I’m at my most abada## when wrapping my hands for a kickboxing session. I tried the boxing gloves, but didn’t like those as much. I really enjoy the feel of my knuckles hitting the bag with just a bit of cushion from the fabric wraps. It’s like you said, just the act of wrapping my hands for a kickboxing workout got me fired up to kick butt!

  71. I have fond memories of my mom jump-roping her life (or at least her morning) away in an effort to stay fit, while us little kids looked on. And btw, she’s as fit as a fiddle while I’m the one entering this contest! And those cards intrigue me as well. I could have fun with those! Thanks for the chance to win…

  72. Would love to win the workout cards – they look perfect for traveling!

  73. I’m throwing my hat into the ring because I’m seeing Miz’s workout cards EVERYWHERE on the ‘net and because I don’t want to be the uncool kid, I want to win these. I would totally take them to work (along with the jump rope) and amaze my coworkers with my fitness skillz. Okay, maybe AMAZE is a strong word, but at least it would give them something to laugh at! πŸ™‚

  74. I love jumping rope, and I think I might be able to add weights now without passing out. Maybe. Love Mizfit. And I just finished your book and loved it!

  75. Those cards look like they’d really help out my less planned workouts. It doesn’t hurt that I also adore Mizfit. And I loved to jump rope as a kid, I imagine it’d be a great addition to my workout routine.

  76. I’d love those cards to help in my workouts!

  77. Charlotte I would love, love, love a set of the trainer cards! Like your Gym Hubby, I need pictures and these look perfect!
BTW, I ran over to Academy Sports last week and got a Sport Hoop…who knew I could still hula hoop?! (Haven’t been able to since I sprouted hips in the 8th grade LOL!) It’s a nice workout for my stiff back after being at a desk all day. I even caught my hubby trying it out when he thought I wasn’t looking…worth the entertainment value alone – but it’s so much fun! πŸ˜‰
Thanks for the tips and tricks!

  78. The cards would be the perfect gift for my husband – he sounds like he has a similar workout philosophy as your husband! Thanks for holding the contest Charlotte!

  79. Love your blog and your hilarious posts! I’m 7 weeks post baby #3 so your blog inspires me to get back into shape πŸ™‚ Would love to win!!

  80. way cool giveaway! AND i live in the us <3

  81. I’m not a great jump rope technician, but I’m far better at that than the formidable hoola-hoop. Either way these toys of childhood weighted intrigue me… I only wish they were available to try out before making the investment.

  82. Like you, I love my JC Penny workout gear! But the thing that makes me feel most bada** is putting on my running shoes with my tight workout pants and ponytail. I feel like karate kicking someone and then running away. Weird, I know!

I totally need to get a pair of lifting gloves, too!

  83. I just bought some gloves! I got a blister on my not so lovely lady hands but I’d love to keep them from getting less lovely. Though I hadn’t lifted in a while and went to do some arm work yesterday morning and totally forgot about them so I haven’t tried them out yet.
I sort of don’t have motivation for cardio so making cardio even harder doesn’t necessarily sound appealing :X
I would love cards though! Right now I dig around websites and fitness mags and write down my workouts on little post its or pieces of notebook paper that I lay on the bench in the weigh troom, yes, not too professional, but crafty right? At least it means I’m switching it up. But these would make me look even cooler in combination with my new gloves. I also feel sporty wearing sports bras and do it to look cool even though I honestly don’t need any support.

  84. Nice cards! Sometimes I really need some inspiration for spicing up my workouts, and those are perfect for that πŸ™‚

  85. Yay for jumproping! I was the double dutch master growing up. Thanks for the giveaway!

  86. I love jumping rope. That one looks great!

  87. A weighted jump rope?! I can only imagine how painful that would be – in a good way, of course!

  88. Pingback:Gym Hubby and MizFit Teach Me the Value of a Spontaneity [Are you a workout planner or improviser?] | Instant Health Fitness

  89. These cards look great! I’ve been on their website, along with everyone and everthing else you linked to today, and want to order them all! I’m so glad to hear they are a good workout. I won’t let myself watch TV unless I am also working out, so these would be super perfect! Thanks for being so, so motivating!

  90. Would love to win those cards- and find some dedicated gym buddies- my workout mojo’s been al little downately- any chance you’re giving them away too ;)?

  91. I too wear weightlifting gloves that I stole from my husband. I love the feeling of power that is unleashed when I put them on. I would love to win! I have never tried a weighted jump rope and those cards look perfect for the days when I need to recheck my form.

  92. Riding my cruiser bike with flowers on it, a basket, and pom poms dangling makes me feel pretty bad a**… hahaha… no, but it is a great workout carrying that 10-15 pound Electra bike up and down my staircase to ride it.

I used to love to jump rope (for some reason my mind just went to skip-it — wow)… there was a guy at my high school (back in the day) that was a really amazing jump roper…

I think the most BA I have ever felt exercising was either when I used to do the pummel horse and rings at gymnastics (definitely was the only female taking part in those) or when I decided one day during high school (twice in one comment) that I hadn’t gotten sufficient exercise that day and that cartwheeling down the quarter mile long hallway would be suffice.

  93. That’s what I get for reading your posts at work: I totally missed that there was a giveaway, even though I desperately covet MizFit’s 100-Calorie Workout Cards… until I read today’s totally awesome post about Gym Hubby’s appropriation of said cards. The photojournalistic style was well suited to the occasion!

Would love, love, love to win the MizFit’s 100 calorie Workout Cards! With summer fast approaching I would use them in my back yard since my boys will be out of school. Also am very much enjoying your book ‘The Great Fitness Experiment” it’s making me laugh and get me motivated at the same time!

  95. Haha. I like the first picture you have of the squirrel with the gun. But other than that, it sounds like you have your workouts figured out pretty well. That’s better than I can do. You have my respect.

  96. Hi I would love to win the MixFit cards so I can take them on my summer vacation trip!

  97. Those cards would be oh so helpful for me, the not-so-seasoned exercizer. I adore your blog, by the way.

  98. Ooooh, I love the idea of those cards! I never have a plan for my workouts and those would be so great.
BTW Charlotte, I love your site and your book too. I read the book first (on a recommendation from Shape (or Fitness?) mag) and then became a fan of the site. I love your humor – you brighten my day!

    • And this comment totally brightened my day!! Thank you thank you thank you for buying my book. I’m so glad you liked it! And that you like the GFE – you are sweetie to take the time to comment and let me know!

  99. I would like to win so I would to know at the gym and have a guide.
