Updates, Discounts and a Giveaway!

First, I am proud to announce that The Great Fitness Experiment has search functionality back (see top of page)! Due to my stellar computer skills (er, google search skills) I have fixed my own glitch and now you can happily search for all the weird keywords you like. I’m talking to you Mr. or Ms. “naked hip hop” – you know who you are! I am weirdly very proud of my coding accomplishment. As MizFit would say, please to enjoy:)

Update Time

The TRX: We’re halfway through the suspension training experiment and I am very happy with how it is going. Despite falling on our faces, getting twisted up in the straps and, one occassion, getting so contorted that it took 3 gym buddies to extricate me, I am loving the TRX. Once we got the hang of it and watched all the exercise videos several times, it really provides a great workout. Gym Buddy Mike says he’s sore in place he’s never been sore before. For me, it works my abs akin to the Pilates Reformer. Which is to say it’s completely awesome. Plus I’m totally sold on the portability and variety of exercises.

Mary Lou’s Weigh: I have not wanted to shoot the scale yet and am generally enjoying my not-focusing on the numbers. Because so many of you were so excited about this scale, the company has offered all GFE readers a 50% DISCOUNT. Just enter the code great50 at checkout to get your scale at half the normal price! Wahooo!

Sensa: No weight loss yet but then again the company says it often takes 3 months for women to see a change. I’m halfway through month two. Plus, it’s not very difficult to sprinkle some powder on my food. Remembering to do it is half the battle! The Sensa folks have offered one GFE reader a free month to try it out. If you are interested, curious and/or just like free stuff, leave me a comment below telling me about the weirdest diet or diet trick you’ve tried! And for those of you who don’t win and want to try it, the company is offering GFE readers a 15% discount. Just type ROCKETXL at checkout.

Have a great weekend y’all!

  1. Hey thanks Charlotte! I’m totally headed over to the Mary lou site to get the scale. 50% is a great discount!!! Can’t wait to try it out!

  2. I can’t wait to get my hands on a TRX! Especially if the ab work is comparable to the Reformer!? excited. Totally excited.

  3. 50% is amazing! I’ll have to see if they’ll ship one to me 🙂

    TA x

  4. Damn… I hate the idea of Sensa and everything that things like that stand for. But my curiosity, as always, is through the roof!

The workout sounds so good- and super cool that you got us all a discount on that scale! Think I might have to look into that… I LOVE the idea of that scale!

  5. Wow! 50% on Mary Lou’s Weigh is great. Thanks so much!

  6. My weirdest diet? I think I’ve tried all of them . . .

Probably the funniest was when I was trying to drink TOO much water. The bathroom was my friend . . .

  7. I’m a definite fan of the TRX, although I’m thinking about just getting a set of rings and using them like the TRX.

And great work on the fixing the search thing.

  8. 50% discount??? Amazing! Thank you!

I’d be willing to try the Sansa thinger. The weirdest diet trick I’ve tried? Prolly when I thought eating lots of ice cream and no veggies was a good way to go. I have honestly not tried any weird stuff (that I can remember). BUT I do use salsa as my go-to condiment. It goes with everything, and is delicious, and low cal!

  9. Discount on the space-age scale? WOO HOO!!

  10. Lethological Gourmet

50% discount is awesome! I’ve just spent so much money the past few weeks that I don’t think I should even spend the 50%, but that’s a great deal!

I so want to try out those TRX too. They don’t have them at my gym, but I’m going to keep an eye out for the personal trainers, and if I see them with the TRX, I’ll try to wheedle in and try an exercise (in between clients, of course)

  11. Aw… Mary Lou only ships to US. Crappyness.

    :)Have a good weekend!

  12. What Sagan said re: US shipping only 🙁

As for the weirdest diet? Well, it’s common but I still think it’s weird, the Cabbage Soup diet. Along with unlimited amounts of the soup (which had me retching after a couple of days), there were special food combos every day. One day was fruit only, one was beef, another was bananas only with some milk (???).

Once I had an ounce of nutritional knowledge in my head I started wondering what the hell the purpose was??

  13. Wow – including shipping the scale would now only cost me $50. I may be able to justify that yet. Thanks!

Also, If the Sensa people say it takes 3 months “to work on women” what’s the point of a one-month sample? No fault of yours but seems kind of silly on their part.

  14. Today I saw that there is a TRX set up in my gym! I am SO on that!
I may need to get me some Sensa. We’ll see. And the scale seems like a good deal.
Weirdest diets? I tried the Slim Fast thing. I was starving all the time and had, well, intestinal issues. Didn’t last long on that one.

  15. Holy cow, I’m SO EXCITED about the non-scale! Thanks, Charlotte!

  16. I’ve wanted to try the Sensa…The weirdest thing I’ve tried is drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar a day because I heard Fergie does it. I quit after a week.

  17. Would love to try the TRX! The pictures were a riot. And naked hip hop, it was me. Sorry.

  18. Weirdest diet trick–aside from the master cleanse? Mmm, this is real, the raw meat/dairy diet. Like a raw diet but focused on butter, cream, entrails, etc, all raw, plus raw veggies. Seriously, I don’t know the name of this (raw primal or something?) but it exists… I guess like raw Atkins???

I found a discount for sensa, free 2 month supply, just pay $5- shipping. The kicker; if you don't cancel w/in 30 days they start billing you for autodelivery. I am going to try it.
